When you leave, whether you believe it will for a short time or for good, be sure to take the following items:
- Driver's License or Identification Card
- Green Card (Immigration Verification)
If there is time, also consider taking as many of the following items as you can..
- Children's Birth Certificates
- Lease, Rental Agreement, House Deed
- Medical Records (for the entire family)
If you are thinking about leaving, it would be a good idea to put these things together in one place where you can get to them in a hurry. DO NOT FORGET legally you may take anything that belongs to you alone and anything that belongs to you and your partner together. You can withdraw money that you have in a joint bank account with your partner. You may not take anything that belongs only to your partner. You may not destroy property that belongs to both of you OR only to your partner.
